There is always this confusion in differentiating between leopards and cheetahs. Though they look alike, the most common difference is the patterns on their coat. It may look like they both have spots, but in actual fact, a leopard has rosettes which are rose-like markings, and cheetahs have a solid round or oval spot shape. And the size of the leopard is much bigger than the cheetah, while the cheetah has a slender or lean body vis-a-vis the leopard which is bulky.
The leopard is a solitary and a territorial big cat. It lives and hunts on its own while restricting itself to its territory. Associates with the leopardess only in the mating season. However, the female continues to interact with the offspring for quite some time even after weaning. Sometimes she also shares the kill with her offspring when they haven’t been able to hunt.
