Although leopards are not highly endangered, they still need to be protected. This includes establishing protected areas across national borders, minimizing pervasive threats like illegal hunting, human-wildlife conflict, and overgrazing of livestock in leopard habitats.
Leopards are in trouble because humans have pushed ever further with their livestock into the leopard’s habitat. Overgrazing damages the fragile mountain grasslands, leaving less food for the wild sheep and goats that are leopard’s main prey. And then their ecosystem is altered, giving rise to man-animal conflict.
Not just leopards, let’s pledge to protect our wildlife!
